About AlUla International Airport
AlUla International Airport is the main airport serving AlUla and the surrounding Medina Province in northwestern Saudi Arabia. It acts as a gateway for visitors travelling to the region's UNESCO-listed heritage sites, including Hegra, as well as the Ashar Valley resorts and the wider northwest of the Kingdom.
The airport opened on 31 October 2011 as a domestic facility under the name Prince Abdulmajeed bin Abdulaziz Domestic Airport and was upgraded to an international airport in March 2021. A major terminal expansion completed in 2026 increased the terminal area by around 44 percent and raised annual passenger capacity to approximately 700,000.
Located about 25 km southeast of the AlUla city centre, the airport is reached by airport taxi, ride-hailing services, private transfers and rental cars. There is no rail link to the airport, so road transport is the main way to continue to the city, hotels and nearby resorts.
The compact terminal provides cafés, shops, an airport lounge, free public Wi-Fi and a visitor centre, while a dedicated VIP lounge terminal and private aviation hangar serve premium travellers. These facilities make the airport a practical arrival and departure point for leisure and business visitors to AlUla.
