Presque Isle International Airport (PQI)

Presque Isle International Airport is the primary commercial airport serving Presque Isle and the surrounding Aroostook County region of northern Maine. It also provides a convenient gateway for travelers from northwestern New Brunswick, supported by JetBlue's daily Essential Air Service route to Boston Logan International Airport with onward connections. Located about 1 mile (2 km) northwest of central Presque Isle at 650 Airport Drive, the airport has a single passenger terminal and the second-longest active commercial runway in Maine at 7,439 feet. Its history reaches back to the 1930s, and during World War II the site operated as Presque Isle Army Airfield. After the Air Force closed the base in 1961, the property was redeveloped for civilian use, and a new passenger terminal project broke ground in 2025 to replace the aging terminal. The airport is easily reached from US Route 1 and is roughly five minutes by road from downtown Presque Isle. Parking is available next to the terminal, with free short-term parking and low-cost overnight parking, and ground transportation includes taxis, rental cars, ride-sharing and a local hotel shuttle. Passenger facilities include free Wi-Fi, vending machines, a conference room and the Presque Isle Air Museum, making PQI a compact and practical gateway for visitors to Maine's northern communities and outdoor destinations.
