About Pratt Regional Airport

Pratt Regional Airport is a public-use general aviation airport serving Pratt and Pratt County in south-central Kansas. Located about four miles north of the city center, it functions as a local and regional gateway for private pilots, business aircraft, and charter flights rather than scheduled commercial airline service.

The airfield was activated in February 1944 as Pratt Army Airfield, one of the World War II B-29 training bases in Kansas. After the war it was converted to civil use and became Pratt Regional Airport, and for a time in the early 1950s it supported McDonnell Aircraft testing of the XF-88 Voodoo.

Today the airport operates a single concrete runway, 17/35, measuring 5,500 feet, along with a compact passenger terminal and administration building. Two FBOs, Pratt Air and Blue Sky Aviation, provide fuel, flight planning, concierge assistance, and aircraft support for visiting crews and passengers.

Because the field sits just north of Pratt, the drive into town typically takes about ten minutes by car. Travelers can continue by pre-arranged rental car, taxi, or private transfer, while Wichita and other south-central Kansas destinations are reachable by road.
