About Powell Municipal Airport
Powell Municipal Airport is a public general aviation airport serving Powell and the surrounding Bighorn Basin in northwestern Wyoming. Opened in 1937, the airport has supported private, business, agricultural and recreational flying in the region for decades.
Located about seven miles north of Powell, the airport operates with a 6,200-foot asphalt runway and two turf/dirt runways and has no control tower. A small general aviation terminal and pilot lounge serve arriving crews and passengers, with fuel, hangars and tie-down facilities on site.
The airport is also a practical access point for visitors heading toward Cody and the eastern side of Yellowstone National Park, as well as for pilots seeking a quieter alternative to busier regional airports.
