Portland International Airport is the main airport serving Portland, Oregon, and the surrounding Pacific Northwest. Opened in 1941, it has grown into the region's primary gateway for domestic and international travel.
Located northeast of downtown Portland, the airport has a single main terminal with four concourses and three runways. A major terminal modernization opened the new main terminal in phases beginning in August 2024, adding expanded ticketing, concessions and security areas under a locally sourced mass timber roof.
The airport is connected to the city by the TriMet MAX Red Line light rail, which reaches downtown in about 40 minutes, along with buses, taxis, ride-hailing, shuttles, private transfers and rental cars.
