Port-Gentil International Airport (POG) is the main airport serving Port-Gentil, Gabon's second city and the country's oil-industry capital. Located on Île de Mandji at the mouth of the Ogooué River, it connects the city with Libreville, Gamba and other destinations and supports travel linked to the offshore petroleum sector.
The airport's modern passenger terminal was inaugurated in June 2016 and opened to air traffic later that year. The terminal has been expanded and renovated since then, providing check-in counters, boarding areas, baggage handling and passenger facilities in a single building.
Port-Gentil has no paved road connection to Libreville, so the short flight across the Gabon estuary is an important link for residents, business travelers and oil workers. The airport lies about 4 km from central Port-Gentil, and taxis and pre-arranged transfers provide the main onward connections to hotels, the port and residential areas.
