About Point Hope Airport
Point Hope Airport is a state-owned public-use airport serving Point Hope, a small Inupiat community on a gravel spit along Alaska's Chukchi Sea coast in the North Slope Borough. Opened in 1958, it remains the community's only year-round scheduled air connection, since Point Hope has no road or rail links to the rest of the state.
The airport is located about two miles (3 km) southwest of the village centre. It has a single asphalt runway (3/21) measuring 4,000 by 75 feet and one compact passenger terminal used by regional scheduled services, primarily Bering Air, which connects Point Hope with Kotzebue and other hubs in northwest Alaska.
Facilities are simple, with a basic waiting area and restrooms rather than large commercial terminals, reflecting the airport's role as a remote community airstrip. Passengers typically arrange pickup with local contacts, vehicles, or snowmachines to reach the village and surrounding areas.
