About Pittsburgh International Airport
Pittsburgh International Airport is the main international airport serving Pittsburgh and the surrounding western Pennsylvania region. A civil-military facility located in Findlay and Moon townships, it connects travelers to destinations across the United States and to transatlantic routes served by carriers including British Airways and Icelandair.
The airport's current midfield terminal opened in 1992 and was originally built around a US Airways hub. In November 2025, Pittsburgh International completed a major Terminal Modernization Program with the opening of a new landside terminal that brings check-in, security and baggage claim into one building adjacent to the airside concourses, replacing the former underground tram connection.
Located approximately 20 miles (32 km) northwest of downtown Pittsburgh, the airport is reached via Interstate 376. Travelers can continue to the city center and surrounding areas by the Pittsburgh Regional Transit 28X Airport Flyer bus, taxis, ride-share services, rental cars and private transfers.
With modern passenger facilities, new concessions, expanded security screening and onward travel options, Pittsburgh International Airport serves as the primary gateway for visitors arriving in western Pennsylvania.
