Piloto Civil Norberto Fernández International Airport is the main airport serving Río Gallegos, the capital of Santa Cruz Province, and one of the gateways to Argentina's southern Patagonia. The site was constructed in 1964, and its paved runway was inaugurated in 1972 with an Aerolíneas Argentinas Caravelle flight.
Located about 8 km northwest of the Río Gallegos city centre, the airport is among the southernmost commercial airports on mainland Argentina and supports services connected to the Antarctic region. It has a single passenger terminal and is operated by Aeropuertos Argentina 2000.
Regular flights operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas and LADE connect Río Gallegos with Buenos Aires and regional destinations such as Ushuaia, Comodoro Rivadavia, El Calafate, and Río Grande. A 2025 modernization project renewed the main runway and expanded the passenger terminal.
