Pike County Airport Hatcher Field is a public-use general aviation airport serving Pikeville and Pike County in eastern Kentucky. Owned by the Pike County Regional Airport Board and opened in 1983, it supports private, business and charter flying for the surrounding Appalachian communities.
Located about 6 nautical miles (11 km) northwest of downtown Pikeville, the airport sits in the mountainous terrain of the region and uses one active asphalt runway, 9/27, which is 5,350 feet long. A second runway is closed indefinitely, and the airport operates without a control tower.
Road access is provided by Airport Drive, with a driving distance of roughly 14 miles (23 km) into central Pikeville, normally taking about 20–25 minutes. Travellers can continue to the town and nearby areas by private transfer, taxi, chauffeur service or rental car.
