About Phoenix Goodyear Airport
Phoenix Goodyear Airport is a general aviation reliever airport serving Goodyear and the West Valley of the greater Phoenix area. The City of Phoenix has owned and operated the airport since July 1968, when it acquired the former Naval Air Facility Litchfield Park.
The airport covers about 789 acres and features a single 8,500-foot runway capable of accommodating large aircraft up to the size of a Boeing 747. A main terminal building completed in 2000 supports private, corporate and charter operations, alongside fixed-base operator facilities that provide aircraft handling, fueling, maintenance and passenger services.
Located roughly 20 miles west of downtown Phoenix, GYR sits about 2.2 miles south of Interstate 10 on Litchfield Road, with convenient road connections across the West Valley and the wider metro area.
As a reliever for Phoenix Sky Harbor, the airport supports general aviation, flight training, aircraft maintenance and business aviation, helping reduce congestion at the region's main commercial gateway.
