About Pentagon Army Heliport

Pentagon Army Heliport is a restricted military heliport serving the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, directly across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. It mainly supports VIP, government and military helicopter flights, including transport for defense leaders and visiting foreign officials.

The facility consists of a single pentagon-shaped helipad on the north side of the Pentagon building. It replaced an earlier helipad on the west side of the building, which was closed after the September 11, 2001 attack and the site of the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial.

Located roughly 3–4 km from downtown Washington, D.C., the heliport is close to major road routes, the Pentagon Metro station and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Because it is part of a military installation, public access is not permitted and flights operate under strict security and airspace rules.

For authorized users, the heliport provides a direct link to the Pentagon and the wider capital region, with nearby ground transportation connections into Washington, D.C., Arlington and surrounding areas of Northern Virginia.
