Pelican Seaplane Base is a public-use seaplane base serving Pelican, a small fishing community on Lisianski Inlet on Chichagof Island in Southeast Alaska. Owned by the City of Pelican, the facility provides essential air access for residents and visitors in a remote region with limited road connections.
Opened in December 1952, the seaplane base operates from the waters of Lisianski Inlet using a water landing area of about 10,000 by 2,000 feet. It mainly serves floatplanes offering scheduled service to Juneau, with charter flights available to other Southeast Alaska communities.
Located within Pelican itself, the seaplane base is only a short distance from the town's waterfront and centre. The community is also reached by Alaska Marine Highway ferry and private boats, so onward travel relies on small aircraft, vessels and limited local transportation.
As a compact seaplane facility, it has no terminal building, control tower or fuel service, and travelers should plan around weather and operator schedules. Despite its limited infrastructure, it remains a key connection point for this remote island community.
