Payán Airport (PYN)

Payán Airport is the local airfield serving Payán, the municipal seat of Magüí Payán, in the Pacific region of Nariño, Colombia. It provides a small but important air connection for one of the department's most remote municipalities, where road access is limited and many communities rely on air and river transport.

The airport lies about 4 km from central Payán and operates through a single small terminal with a basic runway used for domestic and regional flights. As part of Colombia's essential air services programme, improvements have been planned for the airfield, including work on the runway and aircraft parking areas, to strengthen connectivity for the municipality.

Because overland access is restricted, travelers generally continue from the airport to Payán by local vehicle, and onward journeys within the region often combine road, river and air routes through towns such as Tumaco, Barbacoas and Pasto.

Despite its limited facilities, the airport is a practical gateway for residents, officials and visitors travelling to the Magüí Payán area, providing essential passenger services and onward travel options in this part of southwestern Colombia.
