Paradise Island Airport is a small airstrip on Santa Carolina, also known as Paradise Island, in the Bazaruto Archipelago off central Mozambique. It serves light aircraft and helicopter charters and provides one of the few direct links between the mainland and this compact island off the Inhambane coast.
The airstrip dates to the 1950s, when it was built to bring guests to the former Hotel Santa Carolina. After a long period of decline, it was cleared and restored for private and tourism flights, and today it mainly supports day trips, lodge transfers and short visits rather than scheduled commercial services.
The nearest mainland hub is Vilankulo, around 44 km away, with most journeys to the island made by air taxi or speedboat. There are no roads, buses or taxis on Santa Carolina, so movement after arrival is on foot or with the receiving lodge.
Because there is no permanent terminal building, passengers should expect a simple open-air experience, with luggage handled beside the aircraft and no duty-free shops, cafés or banking services. Visitors are advised to arrange their charter through a lodge or tour operator before travelling.
