Palacios Municipal Airport is a city-owned, public-use airport serving Palacios and the Texas Gulf Coast in Matagorda County. It primarily supports general aviation, private flights and helicopter traffic connected to the region's offshore energy operations.
The site opened in August 1943 as Palacios Army Airfield, built by the United States Army Air Forces as a maintenance and supply facility during World War II. After the war, the airfield was transferred to local government for civilian use and developed as a municipal airport.
Located about three miles northwest of central Palacios, the airport covers roughly 1,538 acres and operates three runways: 8/26, 13/31 and 18/36. Its facilities are oriented toward general aviation rather than scheduled airline service.
