About Owatonna Degner Regional Airport

Owatonna Degner Regional Airport is a city-owned public-use airport serving Owatonna, Steele County and south-central Minnesota. Construction began in 1946, and the airport opened on its present site north of the city in 1947. It was renamed in honor of Owatonna aviation pioneer Glenn J. Degner in 1987 and adopted its current name in 1999.

Located about three miles northwest of downtown Owatonna near Interstate 35, the airport supports general aviation, corporate and business flights rather than scheduled airline service. Its position makes it a convenient aviation gateway for Owatonna and surrounding communities along the I-35 corridor between the Twin Cities and the Iowa border.

The airport has two runways: a 5,500-foot concrete runway and a 3,000-foot asphalt crosswind runway. A single terminal building houses the FBO, Southern Minnesota Flight Center, which provides a passenger lounge, courtesy transportation, rental cars and aircraft services.

With heated hangars, aviation fuel, on-field maintenance, Wi-Fi and meeting space, the airport is designed to support private pilots, business travelers and corporate aircraft operators visiting the region.
