About Ottumwa Regional Airport
Ottumwa Regional Airport is a public general aviation airport serving Ottumwa and Wapello County in southeastern Iowa. Owned by the City of Ottumwa, it supports private, corporate and charter aviation, flight training, and regional air access rather than scheduled commercial airline service.
The airport began as a U.S. Navy flight training station during World War II and was later sold to the City of Ottumwa in 1947. After scheduled airline service ended in the early 2000s, the city and Federal Aviation Administration completed a new passenger terminal in 2002, replacing the former World War II-era operations building.
Located about five miles, or roughly eight kilometres, northwest of downtown Ottumwa, the airport is reached by road and serves the city and surrounding southeast Iowa communities. Travelers can continue to Ottumwa by private car, taxi, rental car, or pre-arranged transfer.
The terminal provides passenger and pilot lounges, flight planning rooms, restrooms, showers, and internet access. The airport also offers aviation fuel, aircraft maintenance, hangar and tie-down space, and is home to the NAS Ottumwa Museum and Indian Hills Community College aviation facilities.
