About Oroville Municipal Airport

Oroville Municipal Airport is a public general aviation airport owned and operated by the City of Oroville in Butte County, Northern California. Located about 3 miles southwest of downtown Oroville, it serves private pilots, business aviation, and flight training for the city and surrounding region. The airport dates to 1936, when the City of Oroville acquired 188 acres for a municipal field. During World War II it became Oroville Army Airfield for U.S. Army fighter training, and in 1948 it returned to city control and was expanded. Today the airport covers about 877 acres with two asphalt runways. OVE does not offer scheduled airline service, but provides fuel, tie-downs, hangars, maintenance, a pilot lounge, and general aviation support through its FBO. State Route 162 links the airport to State Route 70 and downtown Oroville, and Larkin Road connects toward Gridley. The airport offers convenient access to Lake Oroville, the Feather River area, Chico, and the Sierra Nevada foothills, making it a practical gateway for general aviation travelers exploring Northern California.
