About Ohio University Airport

Ohio University Airport, also known as Gordon K. Bush Airport, is a public-use general aviation airport serving Athens, Ohio, and the surrounding southeast Ohio region. Located about ten miles southwest of the city of Athens near the village of Albany, it supports general aviation, university flight training, and regional air travel needs.

The airport is owned and operated by Ohio University and plays a central role in the university's Department of Aviation flight training program and Avionics Engineering Center research. It provides the longest runway and most advanced instrument approaches among area airports, with Runway 7/25 measuring 5,600 feet and offering ILS, GPS (RNAV), and NDB approaches.

Operations moved to the present location in November 1971, and the airport is named for Gordon K. Bush, a pioneer in Athens aviation. The C. David Snyder Terminal was completed in 2002 as part of a major construction project that also extended the runway.

The airport is reached via U.S. Highway 50 and Columbia Road and is open 24 hours a day. Its fixed-base operator offers fuel, pilot amenities, maintenance, flight training, and courtesy transportation, making it a practical gateway for pilots, university travelers, and visitors to Athens and the Hocking Hills area.
