About Noumérat – Moufdi Zakaria Airport
Noumérat – Moufdi Zakaria Airport is the main airport serving Ghardaïa, the capital of Ghardaïa Province in central Algeria. Opened in 1947 for military use and renamed in 1999, it now operates as a civil aerodrome handling national traffic together with limited international and charter services.
Located about 20 km southeast of Ghardaïa, the airport connects the city with Algiers and other domestic destinations such as Oran, Constantine, Illizi and Tamanrasset, with occasional seasonal and Hajj charter flights. Its single passenger terminal supports these services and is managed among the region's most important platforms by EGSA-Alger.
The airport is the main air gateway to the UNESCO-listed M'Zab Valley and its fortified pentapolis towns, including Beni Isguen, Melika, El Atteuf and Bounoura. Road access is primarily by taxi, with vehicle parking available at the terminal.
Passenger facilities remain compact, with a terminal building, aircraft and vehicle parking of around 655 spaces, and a VIP lounge. A planned new international-standard terminal reflects efforts to improve capacity and support the growth of Saharan tourism.
