Nouakchott–Oumtounsy International Airport is the largest and main international airport serving Mauritania and its capital, Nouakchott. Opened on 23 June 2016, it replaced the older Nouakchott International Airport and became the country's primary gateway for domestic and international travel.
Located approximately 25 km north of the city centre, the airport is reached by road and serves both leisure and business travellers. Its passenger terminal covers about 30,000 square metres with an annual capacity of around two million passengers, supported by two runways and six passenger boarding bridges.
