About Northern Colorado Regional Airport
Northern Colorado Regional Airport (FNL) is a public regional airport serving Fort Collins, Loveland and the surrounding Northern Colorado communities. It is jointly owned and operated by the cities of Fort Collins and Loveland and is one of only fourteen commercially certified airports in Colorado.
The airport was founded in 1963 and began operations in 1964 with a single runway and a handful of aircraft. It has since grown into a 1,050-acre facility with an 8,500-foot runway, a full parallel taxiway, instrument landing system and around 245 based aircraft.
Located in Loveland adjacent to Interstate 25 and US Highway 34, FNL sits about 10 miles southeast of downtown Fort Collins and roughly 55 miles north of Denver. It is a convenient gateway to Fort Collins, Loveland, Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park.
A new 19,400-square-foot passenger terminal opened in November 2024, adding modern check-in, security, baggage and passenger amenities. The airport supports airline service, charter flights, flight training and aviation businesses, making it an important travel and general aviation hub for the region.
