About Northeastern Regional Airport
Northeastern Regional Airport is a public-use airport serving Edenton, Chowan County and the Albemarle Sound region of northeastern North Carolina. It was originally constructed during World War II by the U.S. Navy as Marine Corps Air Station Edenton and later operated as Naval Auxiliary Air Station Edenton before being transferred to the Town of Edenton for civilian use.
Located about three nautical miles (6 km) southeast of downtown Edenton, the airport primarily supports general aviation, business and private flying rather than scheduled airline service. Its main runway, Runway 1/19, has an asphalt surface measuring approximately 6,001 by 100 feet.
The airport has a single terminal building and an on-site FBO, with a pilot's lounge, conference room, fuel, maintenance and flight services. Because it is small and close to town, reaching Edenton's historic district by car normally takes only a few minutes.
Ground access is provided by local roads, with rental cars, taxis, courtesy vehicles, private transfers and pre-arranged ground transportation available for onward travel around Edenton, Chowan County and the surrounding region.
