Opened in July 1962 and maintained by the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities, it sits about one mile from the village centre at an elevation of 314 feet.
The airport has a single gravel runway, 2,800 by 75 feet (853 by 23 metres), oriented 02/20. It operates without a control tower and is generally unattended, with lighting activated by radio, and it supports general aviation, air taxi and charter flights rather than scheduled airline service.
Nondalton is primarily accessible by air and water, making the airport a key link for passengers, mail and freight. Air taxi services connect Nondalton with Iliamna, about 14 nautical miles to the south, and with other communities around Lake Clark and Iliamna Lake; a winter road also connects some nearby villages.
