Nightmute Airport is a state-owned public-use airport serving Nightmute, a Yup'ik village on Nelson Island in the Bethel Census Area of western Alaska. Because the community is not connected to the rest of Alaska by road, the airport provides the only year-round transportation link for residents and visitors.
The airport operates a single gravel runway and a small passenger terminal building, supporting regional flights to Bethel and other communities in the Yukon–Kuskokwim Delta. The airport was relocated and rebuilt in 2010 as part of state-funded improvement work.
Nightmute lies roughly 100 miles (161 km) west of Bethel, the regional hub where most travelers connect. The airport sits about a mile from the village centre, a short ride by local road or ATV; longer journeys within the area depend on river travel in summer and snowmobile trails in winter.
