Located southwest of Olathe, between Olathe and Gardner, the airport sits roughly 20 miles southwest of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. It has two runways, a main runway of about 7,339 feet and a shorter crosswind runway, supported by an air traffic control tower and instrument landing capabilities.
Originally built as the Olathe Naval Air Station in the early 1940s, the facility was transferred to Johnson County in 1973 and later renamed New Century AirCenter. Today it operates primarily for general aviation rather than scheduled airline service, with fixed-base operators providing fueling, hangar and passenger support.
