About Nemiscau Airport
Nemiscau Airport is a small registered aerodrome serving the Cree community of Nemaska and the surrounding Eeyou Istchee James Bay region in northern Quebec. It was built and is operated by Hydro-Québec to support the large electrical substations of Nemiscau and Albanel.
The airport is located about 8 kilometres southeast of Nemaska along Route du Nord at kilometre 294. It has a single gravel runway, 09/27, and handles scheduled Air Creebec flights that operate at the discretion of Hydro-Québec, as well as charter and private aircraft with prior permission.
Because the facility functions primarily as a worksite aerodrome, passenger services are limited to a compact terminal building with basic amenities. Travellers typically continue by road along Route du Nord to Nemaska or other nearby locations.
As a remote northern gateway, Nemiscau Airport provides an important air connection for the region, although visitors should plan ground transport in advance and confirm access requirements before travel.
