The airport serves N'dalatando, the capital of Cuanza Norte Province in Angola, and functions as a regional access point for the city and the surrounding central-northern part of the country.
It lies about 6 km east of the city centre and has a single asphalt runway of approximately 2,000 metres, together with a compact passenger terminal. The airfield sits at an elevation of around 818 metres above sea level and the runway is oriented 08/26.
The facility was rehabilitated and modernized in recent years, but scheduled commercial flights have not operated for an extended period, with the airfield mainly used for protocol and special flights. From 2025, Angola's National Air Force plans to use the site as an aviation training school and military maneuver space while keeping the airport's name and infrastructure.
By road, N'dalatando is connected to Luanda, about 214 km to the west, and to other towns in Cuanza Norte Province. Travelers arriving at the airport can continue to the city centre and surrounding areas by taxi, private transfer, or rental car.
