Muzaffarabad Airport is a small domestic airport in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Kashmir in northeastern Pakistan. Established in 1987, it was developed for short-haul domestic flights and lies roughly 5 km from the city centre.
The airport played a notable role during the 2005 Kashmir earthquake, when it was used for relief operations. Scheduled commercial flights were later suspended, and the airport has remained non-operational for regular passenger traffic, although proposals for its revival have continued.
Its single runway is about 902 metres (2,960 ft) long and is suited to short take-off and landing aircraft. Because regular services are not currently operating, most travellers reach Muzaffarabad by road from Islamabad and other regional cities, or through nearby operational airports.
For onward travel, the airport area offers road connections to central Muzaffarabad and to towns and valleys across Azad Kashmir. The small terminal and its infrastructure reflect its role as a regional airfield rather than a large commercial hub.
