About Muynak Airport
Muynak Airport is a small regional airport serving the town of Muynak in Karakalpakstan, north-western Uzbekistan. It is the northernmost airport in the country and provides an air link between the Aral Sea region, Nukus and Tashkent.
The airport was originally built in 1947 for small aircraft, but passenger operations stopped in the 1990s. Following a government reconstruction programme, the airport was redeveloped with a new terminal handling up to 50 passengers per hour, a rebuilt apron and an extended 2.3 km runway. Regular passenger flights resumed in September 2022 on the Nukus–Muynak–Tashkent route.
Located within Muynak, about 200 km north of the regional capital Nukus, the airport supports tourism and transport in a part of Uzbekistan known for the former Aral Sea shoreline. Road connections link the terminal with Muynak town centre and the wider Karakalpakstan region.
The compact terminal provides basic passenger services for domestic travelers and acts as a convenient entry point for visitors heading to Muynak and nearby Aral Sea sites.
