About Musiara Airstrip
Musiara Airstrip is a small domestic safari airstrip located in the northern Maasai Mara National Reserve in Narok County, Kenya. It serves the Musiara sector of the reserve and is the closest airstrip to Governor's Camp, Little Governor's Camp and several nearby lodges.
The airstrip operates as a single unpaved gravel and dirt strip used by light aircraft for scheduled and charter safari flights. It has no passenger terminal building, and travellers are met on arrival by camp guides and safari vehicles.
Most visitors reach Musiara Airstrip by scheduled flight from Wilson Airport in Nairobi, a journey of around 45 minutes. The reserve is about 270 km from Nairobi by road, with driving times typically around five to six hours depending on conditions.
Because facilities at the airstrip are minimal, the surrounding camps provide most services. The strip's location near the Mara River and Musiara Marsh makes it a practical arrival point for game drives in one of Kenya's best-known wildlife areas.
