Mulika Lodge Airport (JJM)

Mulika Lodge Airport is a small airstrip inside Meru National Park that serves Meru town and the surrounding Meru County region of eastern Kenya. It acts as a convenient air link for safari travellers flying into the park from Nairobi and other domestic destinations.

The airport has a single asphalt runway, designated 01/19 and measuring about 1,000 metres (3,281 feet), set at an elevation of roughly 680 metres (2,230 feet). It operates under visual flight rules during daylight hours and mainly handles light turboprop and charter aircraft used by scheduled safari carriers and private operators.

Located approximately 60 kilometres east of Meru town and about 350 kilometres northeast of Nairobi, the airstrip sits within the park itself, so arriving guests are close to lodges and camps. Road access uses unpaved tracks, and onward transfers are typically arranged in advance by safari lodges in four-wheel-drive vehicles.

Facilities are basic but functional, with a small waiting area, check-in counters and limited refreshments. This keeps the focus on a straightforward arrival and departure experience for visitors heading into Meru National Park and nearby wildlife areas.
