Mount Sanford Station Airport is a private aerodrome serving Mount Sanford Station, part of the Victoria River Downs pastoral aggregation in the remote Victoria River district of the Northern Territory. The airfield has a single unpaved dirt and gravel runway, 12/30, approximately 977 metres long, and operates under visual flight rules during daylight hours. Pilots must obtain prior permission from the station operator, Heytesbury Cattle Company, before landing.
Located in a sparsely populated part of the Territory, the airstrip is roughly 500 km south of Darwin and about 370 km by road from Katherine. It also provides a lifeline during the wet season, when roads can become impassable, and supports Royal Flying Doctor Service medical flights.
There is no commercial terminal or public transport at the airport. Visitors travelling to or from the station generally arrange four-wheel-drive transport in advance, and self-sufficient travel is essential in this remote outback setting.
