About Moorea Temae Airport
Moorea Temae Airport is the only airport on the island of Moorea and serves as its main air gateway to Tahiti and other French Polynesian islands. Opened in 1967, the airport is located in the northeast of the island near Temae Beach and not far from Maharepa.
The airport operates a single passenger terminal and a 1,237-metre runway, handling short domestic inter-island flights operated by carriers such as Air Tahiti and Air Moana. Flights to Papeete take around 15 minutes, making this one of the shortest scheduled commercial air connections in the region.
Located roughly 7.5 km northeast of Afareaitu and accessible from the island's ring road, the airport is within a short drive of hotels and resort areas along the north and east coasts. Taxis and pre-arranged transfers are the main onward options, and travellers can also continue to Tahiti by ferry from Vaiare.
Although compact, the terminal provides essential passenger facilities and a practical arrival point for visitors travelling to Moorea's beaches, lagoon areas and resorts.
