About Monticello Regional Airport
Monticello Regional Airport is a public, city-owned airport serving Monticello and Jones County in eastern Iowa. It sits about two miles southeast of the city centre along Highway 38 and functions primarily as a general aviation gateway for private, business and charter flying.
The airport has its roots in earlier local airfields and was formally dedicated at its current location on October 16, 1966. A new concrete runway project was completed in 2001, when the facility took the name Monticello Regional Airport, and a modern terminal building was dedicated in September 2013.
Its main runway, 15/33, is 4,400 feet long, with a 2,300-foot turf crosswind runway 9/27 available seasonally. The terminal is supported by Monticello Aviation, which provides fuel, hangars, aircraft parking, flight training, rental, charter and maintenance.
Because the airport is only about two miles from downtown Monticello, travelers can reach the city centre quickly by private transfer, taxi or rental car, with convenient road links to nearby communities and larger regional hubs such as Cedar Rapids and Dubuque.
