The airport has a single asphalt runway, 16/34, measuring about 5,998 by 75 feet, and sits at an elevation of roughly 6,966 feet. Its operations are mainly general aviation and air taxi flights, and there is no scheduled commercial airline service or control tower.
Located about three nautical miles (6 km) north of central Monticello, MXC is close to the Abajo Mountains and provides a useful air access point for Canyonlands National Park, Bears Ears National Monument and the wider Four Corners region.
