About Montevideo-Chippewa County Airport
Montevideo-Chippewa County Airport is a public general aviation airport serving Montevideo, the county seat of Chippewa County, and the surrounding Minnesota River Valley in western Minnesota. Activated in September 1945, the airport is jointly owned by the City of Montevideo and Chippewa County and supports private, business and agricultural flying.
Located about two miles north of the Montevideo city centre, the airport provides local and regional access for light aircraft. Its main runway is an asphalt strip of approximately 3,999 feet, supported by a turf runway and instrument approach procedures for pilots operating in the area.
The airport does not offer scheduled airline service; commercial air travel is available through larger regional airports such as Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport and St. Cloud Regional Airport. MVE primarily serves general aviation, including aircraft maintenance, sales and agricultural operations.
On-site services include aviation fuel, hangars, tiedowns, airframe and powerplant maintenance, and automated weather reporting, with road access connecting the airport to Montevideo and other communities in the region.
