About Monterey Regional Airport
Monterey Regional Airport is Monterey County's only commercial airport and the main air gateway to the Monterey Peninsula. Established in 1936 and operated as a special district since 1941, the airport connects the region to major U.S. hubs and popular destinations.
The airport operates a single passenger terminal with five gates. The existing terminal, opened in 1949 and expanded in 1973, is being replaced by a modern terminal expected to open in 2027 as part of a federally required safety enhancement program.
Located about 3 miles southeast of downtown Monterey, MRY offers short travel times to Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Pebble Beach, Pacific Grove, and Salinas, and provides access to the Big Sur coastline. Ground transportation includes taxis, ride-hailing services, rental cars, and shuttle connections along Highway 68.
Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Air, American Airlines, and United Airlines operate nonstop service to destinations such as Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Denver, Dallas-Fort Worth, Phoenix, and Las Vegas, with additional seasonal routes. JSX operates from the nearby Monterey Jet Center.
