Montauk Airport is a privately owned, public-use general aviation airport on the eastern tip of Long Island's South Fork. Opened in April 1958, it serves Montauk village and the surrounding Hamptons area, offering access for private aircraft, light piston planes and seasonal charter traffic.
The airport is located about 3 miles (5 km) northeast of central Montauk in Suffolk County, New York. It has a single asphalt runway, Runway 6/24, which is 3,246 feet long, and operates without a control tower; attendance is typically available during daylight hours from April through October.
As a general aviation field, Montauk Airport does not handle scheduled commercial airline service. Instead, it provides a convenient arrival point for private pilots and charter flights heading to Montauk's beaches, resorts and nearby destinations such as East Hampton and Amagansett.
