About Mont-Joli Airport
Mont-Joli Airport is a regional airport serving Mont-Joli, the Bas-Saint-Laurent region and the Gaspé Peninsula in eastern Quebec. It supports daily regional flights to destinations within Quebec as well as seasonal charter services, and is a base for several charter operators.
Built in 1941 during the Second World War as a Royal Air Force supply and training base, the airport was owned by the federal government until 1994 and is now managed by the Régie intermunicipale de l'Aéroport de Mont-Joli. A new terminal building opened in 1972, and in 2017 the main runway was lengthened to 6,000 feet to accommodate Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Located about 3 km north-northwest of downtown Mont-Joli, the airport is a short drive from the city centre and provides convenient access to nearby communities such as Rimouski. Its compact single terminal keeps check-in, security, arrivals and ground transportation close together.
