About Monroe County Airport
Monroe County Airport is a county-owned public-use general aviation airport serving Bloomington and southern Indiana. First developed in 1939 and transferred to Monroe County ownership in 1960, the airfield today supports private, corporate and charter flying rather than scheduled airline service.
Located about five miles southwest of downtown Bloomington, the airport features a 6,500-foot main runway, a crosswind runway, an air traffic control tower and a passenger terminal building. More than 100 general aviation aircraft are based here, and the facility regularly handles corporate jets and charter flights, including sports team travel for Indiana University events.
Two fixed-base operators, BMG Aviation (BMG Jet Center) and Cook Aviation, provide fuel, aircraft maintenance, hangar space and other aviation services. Passenger amenities include pilot facilities, Wi-Fi, meeting areas and an on-site barber shop in the terminal building.
The airport sits southwest of the city near the I-69 corridor and is roughly 50 miles south of Indianapolis International Airport. Downtown Bloomington and the Indiana University campus are a short drive away, making the facility a convenient gateway for business and private travelers visiting the region.
