Modesto City–County Airport is a public general aviation airport serving Modesto and the wider Stanislaus County region. Opened in 1918, it was the first municipally owned airport in the United States and moved to its current site in 1929.
Located about 2 miles (3 km) southeast of central Modesto, the airport has two asphalt runways and a single passenger terminal that was originally built by United Airlines in 1946 and enlarged in 1991. Although it has a history of scheduled airline service, the airport now primarily supports general aviation, charter flights, corporate aircraft, and maintenance activity.
The terminal includes a passenger lobby, restrooms, free Wi-Fi, and Avis and Budget car rental counters, with a curb-side drop-off and pick-up zone at the entrance. A control tower and fixed-base operator support daily flight operations.
Because of its location just outside downtown, the airport offers a quick connection to Modesto and nearby Central Valley communities such as Ceres, Salida, and Turlock, making it a practical gateway for private and business travelers.
