About Mobile International Airport
Mobile International Airport serves Mobile, Alabama, and the surrounding Gulf Coast region. Formerly known as Mobile Downtown Airport and historically part of the Brookley Air Force Base complex, the airport is owned and operated by the Mobile Airport Authority and was renamed Mobile International Airport in 2022.
Located on Mobile Bay within the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley, the airport sits about 6 km (3 nautical miles) south of downtown Mobile and immediately off Interstate 10, with access also available via Interstate 65. Its position near the Port of Mobile connects aviation with maritime, rail and road transport.
A single passenger terminal opened in 2019 to support commercial service, and the airport continues to expand with plans for a new larger terminal. Facilities include ticket counters, a TSA screening area, baggage claim, rental car counters, free Wi-Fi and parking.
Travelers can reach downtown Mobile and surrounding areas by taxi, ride-share, rental car or private transfer. The airport serves business travelers, leisure visitors and industrial traffic linked to the Aeroplex, making it a convenient gateway to the central Gulf Coast.
