Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport is the main commercial airport serving Minneapolis, Saint Paul and the wider Twin Cities region in Minnesota. It functions as a major hub for domestic and international travel across the Upper Midwest.
The airport traces its origins to Speedway Field in 1919 and was later renamed Wold–Chamberlain Field. The current Terminal 1, named for Charles Lindbergh, opened in the early 1960s, while Terminal 2, named for Hubert Humphrey, was rebuilt in 2001. Together the two terminals serve a wide range of airlines and destinations.
Located about 10 miles south of downtown Minneapolis and roughly 11 miles southwest of downtown Saint Paul, the airport is connected to the region by the METRO Blue Line light rail, Metro Transit buses, taxis, rideshare services, shuttles and rental cars.
