About Mineral Wells Regional Airport

Mineral Wells Regional Airport is a public-use general aviation airport serving Mineral Wells, Texas, and the surrounding North Texas region. Located about 3 miles southeast of downtown Mineral Wells, it sits roughly 45 miles west of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area and is owned and operated by the City of Mineral Wells.

The airport traces its history to May 1943, when the U.S. Army constructed the airfield to support Camp Wolters during World War II. The installation later became Fort Wolters and served as a major helicopter pilot training center during the Vietnam War. Today the airport supports general aviation, corporate, military, training and business activity across more than 500 acres in Palo Pinto and Parker counties.

The airfield has two paved, lighted runways: Runway 13/31 at 5,996 feet by 100 feet with an ILS approach, and Runway 17/35 at 4,188 feet by 100 feet. Facilities include the terminal building, full-service Jet A and 100LL aviation fuel, aircraft parking and tie-downs, hangar leasing, a passenger lounge, courtesy transportation, rental-car coordination and on-site weather reporting.

Mineral Wells Regional Airport is easily reached from U.S. Highway 180, U.S. Highway 281 and Interstate 20, connecting travelers to downtown Mineral Wells, Weatherford, Fort Worth and the wider Dallas–Fort Worth area. Recognized as the Texas Department of Transportation's 2007 Airport of the Year, it offers general aviation capability and access while avoiding much of the congestion of the Metroplex.
