About Millinocket Municipal Airport
Millinocket Municipal Airport serves the town of Millinocket and the Katahdin Region of northern Maine as a general aviation gateway. Located about one mile southeast of the town center on Medway Road, it provides convenient air access to Mount Katahdin, Baxter State Park, and the Penobscot River.
Built in 1938 by the Civilian Conservation Corps and operated by the Town of Millinocket, the airport has a long local history. It offers two asphalt runways, Runway 11/29 at 4,713 feet and Runway 16/34 at about 4,007 feet, along with a main terminal, municipal and private hangars, and tie-down areas.
For pilots and visitors, the airport provides 100LL Avgas and Jet A fuel, aircraft maintenance, scenic flights, flight instruction, and a pilot lounge with basic passenger amenities. Runway 11/29 has pilot-controlled lighting, while Runway 16/34 is not plowed in winter and is used by ski aircraft.
Road access on Medway Road connects the airport to downtown Millinocket in only a few minutes, and regional roads continue to Baxter State Park and nearby communities. For scheduled airline service, Bangor International Airport lies roughly 70 miles to the south.
