Middle Georgia Regional Airport (MCN) serves as the main commercial aviation gateway for Macon, Bibb County and the surrounding Middle Georgia region. Located about 9 miles south of downtown Macon, the airport provides scheduled passenger service as well as general aviation, cargo and military support operations.
The airport traces its history to the early 1940s, when the site was selected for military flight training and activated as Cochran Field in 1942. After World War II it became Macon's municipal airport, and the current passenger terminal was built in 1959 and renovated in 2003. Today, scheduled commercial service is operated by Contour Airlines with flights to Washington Dulles International Airport.
The airport is conveniently positioned near Interstate 75 and provides easy access to Macon, Warner Robins and other central Georgia communities. Travelers can continue into the city by rental car, private transfer, chauffeur service or personal vehicle, with free short-term parking and curbside loading available at the terminal.
