About MidCoast Regional Airport at Wright Army Airfield
MidCoast Regional Airport at Wright Army Airfield is a joint-use civil and military airport serving Hinesville, Fort Stewart and Liberty County on the Georgia coast. Originally built in 1942 as Camp Stewart Army Airfield, it has long supported military training and now also serves general aviation travelers visiting the region.
In 2007, Liberty County, the City of Hinesville and the Liberty County Development Authority opened a new 13,825-square-foot terminal that houses both the civilian fixed-base operator and military operations. The airport later adopted the MidCoast Regional Airport name to reflect its position between the Savannah and Brunswick areas.
Located on Fort Stewart about 3 miles from downtown Hinesville, the airport is reached by road and sits roughly 20 minutes west of Interstate 95. From here, travelers can continue to Hinesville, Fort Stewart, Savannah, Brunswick and other coastal Georgia destinations.
The facility offers general aviation ramp space, hangars, aviation fuel, a passenger lounge, pilot facilities and ground transportation support, making it a practical gateway for private and business flights in the region.
