Michigan City Municipal Airport is a public-use general aviation airport serving Michigan City and northwestern Indiana. It supports private, business, charter, and training flights and provides a convenient air access point for the Indiana Dunes lakeshore and the greater Chicago area.
Located about three miles east of downtown Michigan City, the airport opened in April 1940 and is owned by the Michigan City Board of Aviation Commissioners. The airport covers roughly 285 acres and operates a single asphalt runway designated 2/20, measuring about 4,100 feet.
The airport's terminal building houses a passenger and pilot lounge, restrooms, and weather and briefing facilities, while on-site services include fuel, aircraft parking, hangars, flight training, aircraft rental, and charter and maintenance support. It is reached via Highway 212 and nearby US 20/35.
